Savage Master don't change a lot, which I guess makes sense, as they're basically worshipping '80s heavy metal. Dark & Dangerous is filled with catchy '80s-style heavy metal, with some lighthearted songs and a few that come off a little darker, but almost just as catchy. After just one listen, I had several melodies and vocal lines stuck in my head already, so it's one of those albums that leaves a mark despite not being overly original—not that I'd expect (nor want) much originality in the genre. Some of the lyrics made me think more of that of pop rock, but nothing particularly cringy. Other than the modern production, this stuff could very well have been released in the mid-80s, though there are some hints of modern power metal popping up here and there. A great album for when you just want to rock the fuck out. |
