Savage Master albums are never as good as I wish they were, but they are always fun. This outfit always goes for a kind of "evil garage band" vibe reminiscent of early Stormwitch or demo-days Mercyful Fate. The songwriting is a little too simplistic for me, and while frontwoman Stacey Savage has a good voice, I wish they would record her better, because I feel like she could sound a lot more awesome with a better mix and some decent backing vocals. As always, this is a band who sound like they are committing so hard to the retro sound that they are missing out on how good they could be. |
