It's been a few years since Tormentor Tyrant's promising debut EP, and I'm happy to say that their first full-length, Excessive Escalation of Cruelty, lives up to that promise as much as it does its title. Musically, this band is still about sacrificing virgins to the bloody altar of Amon/Deicide, and while this still isn't what you'd call novel, it's done with the conviction and violence needed to pull it off and stand out from the crowd. Songs like "Torture Divine" and "Crueler Tomorrow" sound like long lost tracks off Legion and are roughly as good, and the band even stretches themselves out a bit in places to do something else, like how "Cosmic Wild Hunt" dips into a Slayer-esque prowl halfway through. Vicious, menacing, and uncompromising, this is an album announcing the arrival of a band any fan of death metal should give their attention to. See below for more reviews and interviews... ↓ |
