Third album for this Portuguese band, who have been flying under the radar but won't be for much longer if they keep on like this. Toxikull mix a pure '80s Heavy Metal approach with some Thrash influence to make a 200-proof sound that will absolutely kick your ass. Their careening, fist-pumping riff style is pure Judas Priest, blended in with some Thrash punch and a loud n' proud hard rock feel to their solos and choruses. Like if Priest and Riot got together with Ram or Wolf. Vocalist Lex Thunder (also of black thrashers Alastor) has a solid range and a lot of grit and charisma—even though he's not singing clean, you can tell he has a lot of technique. The production is rock-solid, with a big guitar sound and really pro mixing, so everything meshes really well. This is just a class album from one end to the other, with strong songs, pro production, raw-edged performances and just that energy and attitude that you can't fake in the studio. High-octane metal shot straight into your face. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
