Can't say I'm too familiar with the Italian black metal scene, but HomSelvareg make a strong case for paying closer attention. A seasoned act since the early 2000s, this is only their fourth album over that span—but they make it count. They conjure up a storm here: biting, intense, and blazing mercilessly forward with hatred and fury. The closest points of reference for me are Dark Funeral and their ilk, with relentless high-speed sections and sharp, jagged melody interspersed throughout. The songwriting is crisp with ravaging tremolo riffs, punishing drums with some truly exhilarating fills, and bone-chilling roars driving it all forward. The production is clear, with each instrument cleanly separated, though the vocals occasionally get swallowed at the peak of the storm. The album flows well, with the standout being "Parassiti" at the midpoint, where the band brings together all of the above strengths in one place. A couple of tracks fall short of that bar, the instrumental "Trionfo del Corpuscolo" among them, but this is a genuinely impressive dispatch from the Italian underground.
