I really liked this band's last album, the messy, energetic Dawn of the Axe from a few years ago, but I don't find this one doing it for me. The overall style has shifted much more into straight Thrash, without the Satanic attitude and harsh recording job. This one still sounds rough around the edges, but this time it sounds cheap rather than underground. The vocals are cleaner and far less interesting, and the whole sound is just far less evil and heavy. This sounds much more like some of the cleaner Thrash bands from the old days, like Vio-lence, Sacred Reich, or Atrophy. It still sounds retro, it's just not very good, as they filed all the edges off this until there's almost nothing left that sounds cool. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
