Haneda is the fourth album from Germany's Cruel Force and finds them bringing more speed metal into their mix of black/thrash. Ruthlessly fast riffs come at you in a furious blur of smoking guitars and barking vocals. There is still a good deal of black/thrash to Cruel Force's sound, but the insane speed of "Whips a Swinging" and "Warlords" have a Show No Mercy/Violence and Force power and there's even a bit of faster traditional metal to the instrument opener "The Cross," which hints at Judas Priest's "Hellion." Regardless of which bucket you put this band in, the undeniable speed and catchiness of the songwriting are the hallmarks and Cruel Force utilize both with skill. Grab a copy of Haneda and break out the air guitar. Just make sure you warm up your riffing hand first. It is going to get a serious workout.
