In an attempt to keep the momentum going after 2024's excellent Verses in Oath, Hulder followed up with a short 2025 EP titled after its only metal track, "A Beacon From Darkened Skies." The sound is very much in line with its predecessor: venomous, biting black metal wrapped in an atmospheric, almost ceremonial aura. Track two, "Zonnesteen" ("Sunstone"), shifts gears into a pagan, shamanistic acoustic piece, with softer guitars and percussion that transport you elsewhere entirely. It's a nice change of pace, even if it doesn't feel strictly necessary in the context of such a short release. All in all, this is solid for what it is and worth checking out if you enjoyed Verses in Oath. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
