It's been a long time since we had new music from Japan's Blaze and their latest album, Out Through the Door, arrives 11 years after their EP The Rock Dinosaur. Not much has changed with regards to Blaze's brand of hard rocking heavy metal. They play stripped down, unpretentious guitar/bass/drums/vocals music that just rocks hard, similar to a lot of early NWOBHM groups. There are some tracks like "The Man in White Boots" and "Picture on the Wall" that stand out, but it is kind of a "meat and potatoes" record, good but short of amazing. I like this band and can easily picture myself rocking out to Out Through the Door while driving down the highway and you will, too, if you dig '80s stuff like Jaguar, Tygers of Pan Tang, early Y&T and retro bands like High Spirits.
