Running Out of Time is the second studio album from this German sextet going by the uninspiring name of Front Row Warriors. Featuring Stefan Binning (guitars) from Septagon and Richie Seibel (keyboards) from Them, Running Out of Time is full of melodic heavy metal led by the strong voice of newcomer Elkie G, whose clear, powerful delivery is worthy of comparisons to the likes of Doro Pesch and Marta Gabriel. The album contains a number of smoothly melodic yet still heavy and driving anthems that go down easily and should sound pretty good blasting from car speakers while zooming down the highway. The ballad, "Seems Like Paradise," is in the mold of classic '80s MTV staples like "Home Sweet Home" and "Silent Lucidity" and your appetite for lighter waving will be a factor in how much you enjoy it, though I have to admit, the band hit dead center what they were aiming for with this track. There's a cover of Pat Benetar's "Heartbreaker" that, maybe because I grew up with the original, I find pales in comparison (it is a tall order to go up against one of the titans of the female rock singer pantheon). Apart from that, Running Out of Time is an enjoyable melodic metal effort that should appeal to anyone that enjoys their metal on the catchy, accessible side a la Doro, Masterplan, Fifth Angel, etc.
