I am not a fan of that name, but this band surprised me with their glossy hooks and headbanging riffs. This is a throwback to the days when hard rock morphed into metal, and there is still quite a bit of rock DNA in this music, but it rocks hard enough that you don't mind it. This is very polished, and definitely not an underground vibe, with a smooth production, booming sound, and catchy choruses wall to wall. Singer Elkie G is a find, with the perfect kind of powerful, rough-edged instrument for this kind of thing. I hear musical influences in this from Krokus to Dokken to Priest and even bits of Queensrÿche here and there. It's really accessible, but it's still a riff-crunching good time and I can't argue with it. |
