I was a fan of Taskforce Toxicator's EP Reborn in Thrash, so I had my expectations set pretty high for this one, doubly so when I saw the badass Star Wars referencing album cover. Thankfully, Laser Samurai lived up to all of that, with the band hitting their regular bases of American Thrash à la Slayer, Exodus, Overkill, and even Suicidal Tendencies in the vocals, all of which is wrapped up in a crisp, heavy production that fits their sound like a bloodied glove. Good thrash needs speed, aggression, heaviness, and enough gusto to tear your brain out of your fucking skull, and these boys understand that perfectly as they race through track after track of angry, crossover-tinged thrash which has enough songwriting chops to prevent them from being mere imitators or one-trick ponies. They even pull off some Tom Araya-esque wails on "Acid Terror," something that more thrash could do with, so that's stronger evidence than any that Taskforce Toxicator are the real deal. Recommended for anyone with an appetite for fucking thrash. See below for more interviews... ↓ |
