From the scorching depths of Lima, Peru comes Spectral Souls, a band who have no interest in doing anything besides playing old-school death metal that takes no prisoners. You can make comparisons to classic acts like Possessed, Death, Slayer, and even Vital Remains, as this is kind of thrashy in the way all death metal was starting out. What makes these boys stand out from the dozens doing this is that they're better at it than average with excellent guitar work that displays crushing riffs, searing solos, and even some striking melodic work that's reminiscent of old Slayer, particularly on the killer "Crystal Generation." No originality, no gimmicks, no bullshit, just killer death metal that parties like it's 1987 and pulls it the fuck off. |
