There are about a dozen bands called Tempest, but this one is a very new act (so much so, I don't know if they even existed beyond this year) from the Netherlands, and they bash out some delightful Crossover-tinged Thrash that's as entertaining as watching your worst enemy being chased by a speeding bullet train, albeit with less mess at the end. This EP(?) reminds me a lot of Power Trip with its spine-splitting heaviness and the angsty-filled vocals of singer Stephan, and with berserk, mosh pit-inducing tracks like "No Mercy'' and "No Judgement (In the Pit)", I'd say they're already on their way for being about as good. There's not much more to say about this, but the beauty of this old-school Crossover Thrash sound is that there doesn't need to be, and no one's happier than me to see new young bastards like Tempest taking up the mantle of their forefathers to chug booze and smash their heads into their instruments with attitude and energy to spare. A band to watch. |
