Power of the Chosen One is the fourth album from Argentinian Wizard worshippers Feanor. Once again featuring Wizard's Sven D'Anna on vocals, Power of the Chosen One is full of perfectly acceptable crunchy, Germanic power metal highlighted by cuts like "Rise of the Dragon" and "This You Can Trust" which blaze along with speed and huge choruses designed to be sung along with. As I said in my review of their previous album, if you've heard anything by Wizard, anything at all, you'll know exactly what to expect from Power of the Chosen One. It's so similar, it makes me wonder why this band exists. Does D'Anna have so much music and his Wizard bandmates can't keep up, he put together another band to release it? Do the other members of Feanor love Wizard so much they are going for imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? In the end, it doesn't matter. If you like Wizard, or crunchy power metal in general, you're sure to enjoy Power of the Chosen One. The production, the playing, and the songs are letter-perfect. Just don't expect anything you haven't heard before. |
