Third album for this Athenian Black Metal band, who actually don't sound very Greek. This reminds me much more of the early 2000s French sound, similar to stuff like early Himinbjorg or Belenos. I like the dedication to more solid riffing here, so it is not just tremolo all the time. It gives this album some extra heaviness and shape. The recording is a nice balance between clarity and underground grit, and they don't make the mistake of stacking the vocals too far upfront. The songwriting on this is pretty standard, but the riffs and the melodies are a cut above that. |
