These evil Italian bastards in Acheronte, formed in 2010, make the rotten Jesus Christ weep. Hope you are okay with that! Ancient Furies introduces seven tracks of fast and somewhat chaotic Black Metal mayhem in the vein of Mayhem's De Mysteriis Dom Satanas Mayhem, early Dark Funeral and early Impaled Nazarene, creating one hell of a whirlwind of straightforward and no-gimmicks wholeness that avoids any originality factor like the plague. Unfortunately, it eventually turns out to be quite mediocre and uninspiring, which is kind of sad. I don't know... In some way, this type of hysteric and blasphemous bombardment is welcome. But in the long run, this blacker-than-thou act lacks just too much of everything to really make an indelible impression. If you are a fan of this fierce sounding 'nothing-new-under-the-brightest-moonlight' Black Metal shit, then you may want to give this a chance. Otherwise you shouldn't bother. |
