Some raw, mid-90s Scandinavian style Black Metal from Brazil here. Patria's music is a bit like a mix of early Burzum meets Graveland – abrasive, raw, chaotic yet filled with melody and there's even a bit of an epic feeling (without being "downright epic"), all under the shadow of a dark atmosphere that will darken the sunniest day. This is mid to fast-paced stuff and as far as that's concerned, things are well balanced and varied enough. The vocals are the expected harsh BM screeches which will rip your ears off at times. This is a pretty good listen if you like the genre, but don't expect too much: Patria do not invent anything here, and even though there's enough variation the album doesn't really take off – good, but not great.
