Voice is another power metal band from
Germany, and this is their second album. It took me quite
a while to like this album, at first I almost hated it.
After a pretty heavy start with "No Way Out", which
made me expect a very rocking album, I was kind of disappointed
to end up with a good number of ballads - all in sequence.
It took some getting used to, but finally this turns out to be
a very good album.
The vocalists voice is very powerful. He has a presence that can be felt throughout the album, especially on the second track, "Twilight Dreams" which is kind of a catchy song, mostly because of the singing (solo and choir). This is followed by what I would call a hard rocking ballad, "Behind Your Reflections" where again the vocalist give the song a little something that really make the song powerful. This is one of the best songs on the album. This is followed by the ballads "The Silent Way", "Colder Than Ice", both very good but they total about 13 minutes, a bit too long for my taste. "The Gunslinger" is next and is more fast-paced, followed by "Disappeared Heroes", another ballad clocking at 6:21. "In The Night" is next, an excellent fast, heavy song, my favorite along with "Behind Your Reflections". The album ends on "The Journey" which clocks in at 10:30. Despite the length, the song is very good with a lot of changes in tempo. The album is a grower, and I like it more every time I listen to it. My praise goes to the vocalist who really does an excellent job on this album. Voice is certainly a band to watch for in the coming years. |
