This is not exactly retro-Thrash, but it does have a certain chaotic vibe to it that reminds me of German 80's thrash like Destruction or Sodom. Sadly, that's the only way I'd really compare this band to those. Untimely Demise are aggressive and energetic, but their guitar sound is weak and their riffs are second-rate. The focus of this, sound-wise, is vocalist Matt Cuthbertson, who has a nicely sneery thrash voice, but he spends way too much time yapping over the music in an attempt to cover up for the weak riffs. I found this rather annoying to sit through, even at only a half-hour or so. |
