Tenth album by this German band made up of two guys who are also in Eisenkult. This is moody, sweeping Black Metal with that definite Pagan sound to it, though without incorporating much actual folk sounds into the mix. This has similarities to bands like Falkenbach or Iuvenes with the drawn-out compositions and extensive instrumental passages, all of it evoking a definite atmosphere that is the hallmark of this kind of music done well. It's not fast or superheavy, it's not driven by saw-edged riffs or hammering drums. It carries you along on waves of melody and layered instrumentation, and you won't bang your head, but you will feel things. A very polished and ambitious album. |
