Lots of times stuff that calls itself Doom/Death is just slow Death Metal, and not a lot of bands really nail the mixture of the styles, but this is a band who get it right. This is crushingly heavy, reminding me of the old days of Morgion, Novembers Doom, or Keen of the Crow, but it also features intensely melodic riffs and leads suitable for the most oppressive of Doom Metal. This is definitively Doom, but it's not afraid to just get ruthlessly heavy for the sake of it and hammer away when it wants to. This is only an EP, but it is a visceral, gripping, cathartic experience. |
