Achilles Steel is a traditional metal band that formed way back in 1985 and was only active for a few years before calling it a day. It took nearly 40 years, but the band is back with their debut album, Welcome to the War. As their name implies, their lyrics deal with battle and heroes, and the music is characterized by punchy riffs and flashy leads. Similarities with bands like Virgin Steele, early Metal Church and Omen are obvious, but nothing Achilles Steel offers is on the same level as those bands' prime works. Welcome to the War is a workmanlike affair, solidly written and played but not amazing. If you can't get enough early US metal, Achilles Steel is for you.
