Now this is some good shit. Impermanence are a Polish band with their debut album, and they are far more advanced than many bands ever get. This has a lot of ambition, with the esoteric Buddhist themes and the technical songwriting, but I don't mind ambition if a band can pull it off. This is heavy and aggressive, while still maintaining a tight, complex sound that has a lot more to do with stuff like mid-period Enslaved or Satyricon than anything like Nile. Pummeling riffs with a big, fat sound and guttural, bellowing vocals get your attention, but the way the songs twist and turn and keep doing the unexpected will keep you listening. An outstanding debut. |
