This is a bit of an odd release at it is an EP of five classic metal covers that guitarist Paju of Italian thrash band 4Nothyng did to celebrate his 50th birthday. I'm pretty sure that's a first. He enrolled four vocalists from other bands to sing the five songs. Jason McMaster of Watchtower and Dangerous Toys sings on "Metal Thrashing Mad" (Anthrax) and "Animal" (W.A.S.P.), Giacomo "Giga" Gigantelli (Danger Zone) on "Trick or Treat" (Fastway), Eric Forrest (E-Force, ex-Voïvod) on "Living After Midnight" (Judas Priest), and finally Trevor Nadir (Sadist—the Italian one) sings on closer "Sorrow of the Moon" (Celtic Frost).

I approached this release with some skepticism, since usually we'll see a bunch of covers released by a known band, not something like this. But they must have had quite a bit of fun doing this. It's intentionally raw and garage/demo-like, unpolished yet very listenable. It reminds me a bit of the times I went to see friends rehearse in a small room. The raw guitar sound is especially crunchy and heavy. The diverse vocal performances are certainly interesting, knowing the original songs. It's unsurprisingly sing-alongesque since these are mostly very popular metal songs, but the guest vocalists certainly did a good job here. Of course, the one that struck me the most was Eric singing "Living After Midnight" with a raucous voice—a sharp contrast from Rob Halford—but after a couple of listens, I found myself enjoying this version for what it is.

If you're looking for cool, raw versions of these classics, check this one out.
