This Swedish band kicked around for several years in the '80s, released several demos but never seems to have caught on with a label for any official release until they reformed in 2017 and put out a compilation collection. Since then, they've released two albums with this one, End of Time, their second. A little power, a little melodic, a little heavy, that's what you can expect from End of Time and, being Swedish, you can be sure it has a certain level of catchiness. Some of the songs remind me of Iron Savior, especially the vocal lines, which are quite similar to something you would hear Piet Sielck sing ("Power," "Motherland"), while others are rather commercial in their songwriting ("Sun Goes Down"). It is something of a "paint by numbers" record, sounding like a lot of other melodic/power metal that has already been done, but it is by no means an unpleasant listen, just very familiar and short of amazing. If you are a fan of melodic metal, I don't know if you really need End of Time, but should you pick it up, you will probably find something to your liking. |
