Saturnian Bloodstorm, released in 2023, was kind of an Immortal worship album and there's still some of that on this album, but it's more melodic and keyboard-heavy than anything I'd associate with Immortal's sound. That's not a bad thing per se, as The Dreaming Prince in Ecstasy takes the sound to a different level with a more epic-style sound and so much keyboards as to almost qualify as "symphonic," though not quite. The keyboards create a surprisingly soothing atmosphere considering the genre at play, but I get my kick out of the razor-sharp guitars slicing through the quiet when you expect them the least. Overall addictive, and some nice different-sounding black metal for a change.
