Utopia is part three in Airborn's Lizard Secrets series of albums and continues the loose, sci-fi storyline they've been following for the past few releases. I've read some grumbling in other reviews regarding the lack of a strong plot or character to follow and, while that might be fair criticism, it doesn't bother me because the songs on Utopia are so damn catchy and just plain fun (if you like happy power metal, that is). I don't care if it is "Kings of Melody," "Oil's Well that Ends Well" or "Steel Rat" that is playing, I'm tapping my feet like a madman and shouting along with each chorus. There's a lighthearted, almost tongue-in-cheek quality to Airborn's writing, something I find refreshing. This isn't "comedy" metal, which almost never works, just music that isn't meant to be taken too seriously. If you don't like happy power metal, Lizard Secrets: Part Three - Utopia is not going to do much for you, but if you are like me and still like to spin speedy, uber-catchy albums from Edguy, Stratovarius, Gamma Ray, etc., you'll want to add a copy to your collection.
