Hard to believe this is the same band I reviewed waaaaay back in 2008—another life, holy shit. Back then they were on Cruz Del Sur and their third album, When Shadows Fall, was a good if not epochal slice of Hellenic Epic Metal, and now, seventeen years later, I find their latest pretty much the same. Album opener "Only the Swords Survive" is a speedier, more generic-sounding song, but then the rolling, crunching riffs get going and this starts to get good. Always about that epic sound like Battleroar, Wotan, or Holy Martyr—all of it based on that marching Manowar foundation—Reflection do it right. If you like this kind of thing, then this is a good band to check out. They aren't top of the heap, but they are consistent. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
