This is German Death Metal that sounds pretty spot-on what you thought of when I said that. It has a definite Scandinavian flavor, harking back to classics like Carnage or Grave. In general, this is slower and more riff-oriented than fast or technical, with a bruising guitar tone and a good bit more melody in the works than I expected. I can't say this is anything new or innovative, but it does what it does very well.
