Giftkrieg is a new entity from Boston, Massachusetts, that is unleashing some old-school thrash on their debut EP, Poison War. The steamrolling riffs and harsh shouts spewing bile-soaked lyrics should be familiar to fans of '80s bands like Sodom and Kreator and I personally hear a little bit of fellow Bostonians (just outside Boston, really) Wargasm. The songwriting isn't breaking any molds and sticks close to established styles, but the ferocity of the performances is what carries Poison War. Speed is the band's bread and butter, but they execute a sweet breakdown on "Fires Burning in the North" which I'm sure will have the pit swirling and elbows flying live. Solid opening salvo from Giftkrieg. See below for more interviews... ↓ |
