An interesting take on black metal here. This French band plays medieval folk black metal with no modern instruments. Despite the lack of modern instruments, this actually sounds more metal than a lot of metal albums out there. Go figure. The medieval folk vibe is, of course, present throughout the album, so if you like that kind of sound and like the real thing (no synthesizers here either), then you'll want to check this out. The vocals are black metal-style shouted harsh vocals that are decipherable enough and it's relatively easy to make out the lyrics if you understand French well, and there are the occasional clean passages. The lyrical content is mostly centred around modern social problems, illnesses, panic, etc. "Covidards" in the title should be enough of a hint, I guess. The lack of modern instruments doesn't mean this is not heavy: it is, and the atmosphere is rather dark, though the folk vibe gives it a bit of an upbeat, so it's not all depressing. Interesting stuff for sure.
