I first heard of this band when Luxi interviewed them a few months ago (see link at the bottom of this page). A doom metal band with heavy rock leanings and with Black Sabbath influences? I had to check them out, and I purchased the album shortly after. Supertzar certainly have a '70s feel to their music on this album, the stoner elements bringing that home even further. Slow, catchy and heavy, the guitars have that sound so rooted in the '70s, it hurts. It's pretty much impossible not to "headbob" on this, just kicking back and chilling the whole time. The album is kind of monotonous, but in a good way. I'm reminded a bit of Count Raven (not surprising considering that band is also influenced by Black Sabbath). The vocals have that chilled heavy rock style from the '70s, a style I've always found to be relaxing and soothing. Epic Truths and Fantaisies doesn't sound modern at all and really shines with its unapologetic tribute to '70s doom and heavy rock. It's that simple. I'd say the guitars often sound crunchier and heavier, but ultimately it's the same kind of vibe. It's hard not to hit "play" again once this album is over. See below for more interviews... ↓ |
