Sometimes we need to distinguish "Doom/Death"—Doom with harsh vocals—from "Death/Doom", which is Death Metal played with a slower, doomier vibe. This is the latter, with similarities to bands like Hooded Menace or Skeletal Spectre. The main vibe is heavy, dirty, filth-spewing Death Metal played slow and sludgy. The predominant riff approach is tremolo picking, so this is not as low-end heavy as you might expect, and it is a lot more melodic too. That said, the sound is very loose and subterranean, and I feel like if you cleaned up the production it wouldn't be nearly as fun. It's kind of a shapeless album, but it has its own sound. |
