This is number 4 of some series, starting with their first album in 2015, parts 1 and 2 being full-lengths and 3 being an EP. Unfortunately, I haven’t heard them, but after listening to this album, I’ll have to make time to check them out. There’s nothing particularly surprising in Blood of the Wolf’s sound. It’s pounding, fast death metal that reminds me a lot of Vader, especially the vocals. This is wall-to-wall sound from beginning to end, with some furiously fast parts and much slower, but crushing parts that will pin you down to the floor. The guitar work is razor-sharp and slices through the ears and makes you beg for more. I have so many of the riffs stuck in my head that it’s almost annoying. I’ve heard stuff like this before, but Blood of the Wolf make their mark with their ferocious and expert execution. If you like pounding, crushing death metal, this is definitely worth checking out. |
