This is the band founded by Melissa Moore after she came out as trans and was essentially booted from Absu. As a statement and a debut album, this is an incredibly strong recording, full of sharp guitar playing, strong vocal work, and a songwriting sense that really sets it apart from the crowd. Loud Arriver is definitely pulling from that early era of NWOBHM-influenced bands, and I hear a lot of classic Warlord and Stormwitch both in the compositions and the distant, echo-laden vocal approach. Like a lot of bands from that period, there is a lot of rock in the DNA, but the playing and songwriting are so magnetic I can't fault that. Moore's riff style is fresh-sounding, and the songs almost never do what you expect them to do. I was not sure about this, but it is just air-guitar fuel from start to finish. |
