Ravager—this one from Germany—play high-octane crossoverish thrash that immediately reminded me of a heavier Municipal Waste, a more recent reference than similar bands that pioneered the genre in the '80s. With an album name like Thrashletics, I expected this to be merely mindless party thrash, but the lyrical theme is largely social and political. Let's face it, this stuff has been done before, so there's nothing surprising in here. But Ravager do it right and that's what really counts in the end. This is fast, hard-hitting, crunchy and razor-sharp thrash that barely stops a second for a breather. The guys play it heavy and that adds some punch to the whole album and sets them apart a little bit. Serious lyrical content delivered with fun, catchy thrash that is sure to leave a trail of bloody mosh pits on the road. |
