I was a big fan of last year's Vengeance Rides an Angry Horse, so imagine my surprise at being confronted with the sissified butt-rock of this one. This is not a new album, this is a re-release of the band's second album from 1994. The band has changed a lot since those days, and I don't think releasing this was a good idea just now, when they are trying to get their momentum back. This is pure 80s, but not the good way, this is a commercial hard rock album, complete with harmonized vocals, bluesy riffs, and too many fucking ballads. It's not bad for that sort of thing, but after the hard-edged metallic attack of their last album, this is so not what I want to hear. Listen only if you want to know how much this band used to suck. |
