Years ago, Funeral were on a roll of magisterial Doom albums like From These Wounds and As the Light Does the Shadow, but since then they have gotten more and more into mopey goth keyboards and sotto-voiced moaning than the beautiful Doom riffs they used to create. It's honestly hard for me to credit that the same band that recorded songs like "This Barren Skin" and "Vagrant God" is responsible for this plodding, unimaginative crap. Well, okay, it's not the same band aside from founder/drummer Anders Eek, who was in Fallen, and should be able to do better than this no matter who else is in the lineup. This is well played, and well produced, but the songwriting is just dull, dragging rubbish that will bore you to death if you let it. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
