The last album by this band I heard was The Many Sides of Truth ten years ago, and it pretty much sucked. I approached this, their sixth album, with some trepidation, but it is miles better than what I got last time. For one, this is a genuine Doom album, not trying to be some progressive shit. The song structures here are complex, and it is clear they are layering on a lot of ambition they can't quite pull off, but at least this is identifiable Doom Metal. The guitar sound is good, the melodies are solid, and the vocals are a rather dull rasp like always. I won't say this is great, but the band is at least trying to deliver on what they are supposed to be good at. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
