Municipal Waste are back with their first full-length in five years and once again deliver a fun, yet aggressive album of old-school crossover thrash. I can’t say there are any surprises here. Municipal Waste have a formula that works well and they mostly stick to it, though at the same time it doesn’t sound like they just keep releasing the same stuff. The vocals really bring the fun/party vibe just like on previous albums (somehow I often think of the Beastie Boys even though this is nowhere near rap). Musically this is filled with catchy, fast razor-sharp riffs and fast drumming that all call for the air instruments and, man, if you’re not the mosh pit style, you won’t want to get too close to the stage while they’re playing just about any song off this album (and most of their discography, for that matter). They’ve packed 14 songs in just under 34 minutes here, so don’t expect any epic cuts, just fun, to-the-point thrash to rock your world. If you like your thrash fast, yet a little silly and easygoing instead of dark and menacing, this album and the rest of the band’s discography are well worth checking out.
