Holy fucking giant cybernetic spaceballs. For those who don't know, Wormed is a Spanish Brutal Death Metal band that leans on the technical side of the genre and displays curious and ever-increasing lyrical contents: Astronomy, Science Fiction, Astrophysics and such. Krighsu is their third full-length and it's absolutely mental.

Relying on crazy song structures, a mix of guttural growls and the occasional pig squeal by frontman Phlegeton and crunchy and brutal riffs, the band manages to create a disturbing and chaotic atmosphere, making you believe that you're in the dark and cold empty of space being overwhelmed by sentient and macabre beings that will most likely devour your soul and pick their teeth with your remains. As I said above, these crazy, crazy dudes rely on their high instrumental abilities, which translates in a mix of brutality and technicality, especially seen on the insane "Eukaryotic Hex Swarm", the colossal "A- Life Omega Point" and the longest and most diverse track of the album, "Molecular Winds", which is also the slowest bit here (not that this means it IS slow, just less maniacal and intense than its counterparts). The production and mixing value is really good, even though the Dynamic Range is somewhat low which makes the sound very compressed, but nothing that hurts the product.

This is the cream of the crop when it comes to a band creating sci-fi content. Krighsu represents one of the most insane, competent, vicious and brilliant releases in Death Metal this year. If you enjoy the space-themed works of acts like Ripper, Vektor, Voivod and especially extreme bands like Nucleus, Inquisition or Apocrophex, this will make you ejaculate. Embrace the horrors of the unknown and let Wormed take you to outer space and its horrifying secrets.
