This is a great album of highly atmospheric Black Metal that slipped in under the radar a few years ago. Despite the fact that this looks like a one-man project from Ukraine or someplace, this is in fact a group project of three unnamed malefactors from Italy. Without even their logo on the album cover or a title, this presents a highly obscure and mysterious face that is fully realized by the dense, moody music inside. Opener "Earth" is an almost six-minute ambient interlude that still manages to be ominous and to build up tension, and then the rest of the album is made up of huge, powerful compositions that build worlds around you. Clearly heavily inspired by the Cascadian sound of Wolves in the Throne Room and other such bands, Earth and Pillars create a textured, engulfing soundscape that instills so much mood you could chip it with an axe.

Essentially, if you enjoy murky, arcane bands like Enmerkar then you should not miss this. A vast, enthralling album with depth and power to spare.
