Miss Ye some Timeless Miracle? Then Germany's Minotaurus have an album by the name of The Call you might want to check out. I say "might" because while Minotaurus follow the Timeless Miracle formula almost slavishly, there are some problems. The songwriting is mightily derivative, at times singers Oliver Klump and Julia Feser sound bored with their lines and the lyrics are like bad Game of Thrones fan fiction. But it isn't all bad. There is some first-rate Power Metal riffing, double-kick drums effectively get your feet tapping and the strings and flutes are not overused. The sound, as with most Limb Music releases, is full and lush. While The Call isn't the best fantasy Power Metal you'll ever hear, I would be lying if I said it wasn't fun. Put the album on with your expectations set appropriately, don your best RPG garb and draw your sword. |
