I haven't heard an At Vance album since 2003's Evil In You, and this album pretty much proves they haven't changed at all, because my opinion is still the same. This is highly polished, professional music that is still too commercial and safe to be really exciting. There's less glam rock in this than before, but that hasn't been met by any concomitant increase in songwriting quality. This band sounds pretty much exactly like other bands that straddle the line like Mystic Prophecy and Dream Evil, only less heavy than the first and less bombastic than the second. Safe, polished product for people who don't want anything at all to stand out about their entertainment. |
