Sometimes you will find an album that while unspectacular or second rate, ends up being the best fun you've had in a while. Well, Zombiefication can check that box. It's no secret that death metal has been done to... well, death. And of course singing about zombies and the likes isn't exactly original either. However despite these guys digging in an already well dug up graveyard they managed to uncover something good in Midnight Stench This is an open casket full of fun, no frills death metal. From the opening shout "Come on Motherfuckers" in "Cryptic Broadcast" this album full on kills, standing as a great slab of chunky Swedish-influenced death metal. These guys don't do anything innovative, or particularly exciting for that matter, but that doesn't stop Midnight Stench from ripping you apart and proceeding to feast on your entrails. Overall if you like death metal I guarantee that you will have some fun with this album, while it probably won't end up a favorite it will always been a safe slice of dirt caked flesh to quench your insatiable thirst for the genre. Fans outside of death metal can give this one a miss though, there's no crossover appeal here just pure death metal. Recommended |
