Power Crue are a Greek band that has three albums out, this being the second one, and they're definitely not the most well endowed band in the world, with a typical metal tendency to rely on a raw, not-as-expensive production job and only the traditional metal instruments. They don't sound awfully professional here, and while that might be part of the raw sound established by the production, I think it's something a little different - the songwriting.

I guess this band just didn't know how to write better songs, that's all I can say. This is okay music, with galloping guitars and screaming vocals, but the vocals sound like the guy is trying waaaaay too hard. I mean, seriously, he sounds like he's going to wake up tomorrow with no voice left. The performance isn't bad in itself, but when you combine that with the fact that the band didn't write the most memorable and stirring vocal lines ever, it becomes a little bit problematic. And the songs themselves are just sort of boring, and that's evident by the first time you see that the intro track is a whopping three minutes long. Yes, three minutes, and it's not near interesting enough to warrant that. "We Against Us" is a good song, and luckily they had the sensibility to write a bunch of other songs that sounded exactly like it, with the only outliers being the worst songs on this thing: "Duat," which is a near-unlistenable and very pointless two minute interlude with some awful hardcore-ish vocals, "Dark Path," which is actively annoying and should have been trimmed by a few minutes, and "Before the End," which is as amateurish and boring as a seven minute true metal epic can get, with stale melodies and bland riffs galore.

Yes, I am being a bit harsh here, but seriously, just look at the "Song of Revenge (Trance Remix)" they tacked on the end, and tell me you think this band really deserves any leeway. What the fuck were they thinking? Yes, mixing electronica and metal can be done well, but this is not a good example of it, and it's done on an album where everything else is presented in a manner that makes it seem like they only want to "stay heavy" and true to the foundations of the genre. It makes no sense, and I think I am done with this album. Not actively bad, but it is amateurish and overall forgettable, so I don't think checking this out should be first on your agenda.
