I liked this band's live CD, which I reviewed last year, and was looking into getting this one when it dropped out of my mailbox. Suicidal Winds have been around for a while, and this is their fourth album of pissed-off Thrash/Death/Black mayhem. This is a pretty good disc, but it lacks substance. "Chaos Rising" is a flailing, chaotic wad of slaytanic riffs and blasting drums, but it lacks any kind of focus or individuality. Pretty much every song sounds alike, and even on repeated listens you can't tell them apart. There's nothing bad about this album, but then there's nothing to make it stand out from the crowd in any way either. Considering the energy I heard on their live disc, I was expecting more from this band. Sadly, this is decent, but not more than that. |
