Coming from Italy and having "symphony" in their band's name, Power Symphony cannot escape being compared with Rhapsody. Well if I have to make the comparison, Power Symphony just doesn't cut it. The comparison is a little unfair however, as the style is quite different. For one thing, there's a female vocalist... I find her vocal performance to be variable from one song to the other, sometimes sounding a little "out of it", while on some songs, the vocals are great. Nothing that can't be fixed in a next album. The musicians are quite competent, they get the job done, but without necessarily bringing anything new. The album is pretty average, in such a competitive arena they'll need to do better to really become big internationally. This is still a good album that fans of the genre will probably like, just do not have too much expectations. A band to keep an eye on for the next album. |
