All Hail the Order is the debut from the U.K.'s The Heretic Order and while at first I wasn't impressed, it has begun to sink in with repeated spins. The vocals are a rough but clean shout and the music is crunchy Traditional Metal that sticks to the basics as far as instrumentation but features some tasty riffs. Album highlights include the wickedly melodic "El Baile de los Muertos," a song that illustrates the correct way to use "groove" and the epic closer "Entombed," a song about being buried alive made all the more effective with acoustic guitars and sound effects that close the album on a creepy note. There are some filler tracks to be sure but for the most part All Hail the Order sounds like a combination of Mark Tornillo's current band (Accept) and his former (TT Quick). That certainly works for me. |
